Shaw put a new back up battery in and don't know why it didn't work. We have only had shaw for about 7 months.
All these ads they put out boasting their service leads me to believe that is a massive fail of epic proportions!!
I've never had a problem with Bell. They are reliable. Bell also has their own power supply. With Shaw, if your internet goes out, so does your phone. I'm not liking the 911 service with shaw either. Besides that, Shaw seems to be raising their prices every year. My cable and internet costs 120.00 per month. It has gone up 6 dollars over the last year. The same will happen eventually with the phone too. Like anything else it's all good now and cheaper but it won't last.
4 hours talk time I believe.

Funny how many people think the only options for phone are Shaw or Bell... I use neither for home phone, yet I still get to use the good old Bell copper lines coming into my house. I use Teksavvy, which uses Bell lines, but I don't have to deal with Bell, and the prices are much cheaper than Bell.
but download speeds suck in the area with Teksavvy. I guess it's okay for DSL, but Shaw is a better alternative IMO

interesting. I've heard good things about Teksavvy but you don't hear a lot about them around here.

A bit off topic, but I just upgraded from whatever is the step up from Shaw Extreme and I'm very happy with my recent speedtest:

Those speed tests are inaccurate simply due to the SpeedBoost that Shaw has. To get an accurate result, download a large file (100MB or over) and see what the avg speed is.

Out of curiosity. try this and let us know how it works out.

Let it run for a while and post your speed when it's close to done.
Here's what I got
