Wouldn't it just be simpler to ask your daughter?

Load it up with Wagner, Beethoven, Bach and Shostakovich. Tell your child that only the really cool kids are into classical.

Music tastes seem to change with generations as well as idividual taste. When I was 8 I loved Weird Al, for example, and the Friends soundtrack. You'd have to ask or just know the genres she's into. But when all else fails, go to the Disney /Family Chan stars- like Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. They seem to be a hit with most youngens
When I was born I was so surprised I didn’t talk for a year and a half.

As our kids grew, we "guided" their tastes, because we wanted them to have a solid baseline from which to discern good music from bad. As a result, they developed a well balanced approach to all kinds of genre; in fact our middle daughter is a professional pianist, our youngest plays a mean guitar.

My son is a little bit older (he is 12) but a lot of the music he listens to is older music he has heard while playing Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
