Default No church on Christmas? 1 in 10 Protestant pastors canceled services

A new poll by LifeWay Research shows that roughly one in 10 U.S. Protestant pastors canceled Sunday services this Christmas, the Washington Post reports.

The poll reportedly shows many others had abbreviated or altered services and some said they were giving their "second-string" clergy a chance to practice.

And I'll bet attendance at Mass today was at the usual level for every RC church in America!!!

I had thought I read all religions where experiencing a loss of audience? It need not be a problem with Church themselves but rather the need for many to have two jobs and a real lack of spare time. If a Christian finally gets a couple of free hours he may choose to spend it with family than at Church. Ya ya I know they could be together there as well but they might equate a breakfast and time at the zoo and slipping in a couple of extra prayers during the week.

There's a bit of irony in this "info" from RWGR.

OUR church doesn't do a service on Saturday for the convenience of the members who don't want to go on Sunday. And the only Protestant churches I know of that do are mega churches where the numbers dictate that they MUST have more services, since there just isn't enough TIME on Sunday!!!

Churches that cancelled on Sunday morning this year had a Christmas Eve service nonetheless. I do not believe God was offended. Nowhere does Scripture dictate, "the church must meet at 10 A.M. on Sunday mornings. It does dictate we meet regularly though. The timing is left up to us. We are not legalists.

Blunt, I'll tell you what I've told a few people in here lately: of all the Atheists/Agnostics on the board, you're the closest one to admitting the Truth that is Christianity. In fact, you believe Jesus is "The Way, the Truth, and the Life" more than many lukewarm Christians.

    Why?

Because of the way you go out of your way to convince people you don't believe. It's humorless and petulant; it is, in fact, the MO utilized by those who know the Truth, but will fight off the inevitable a bit longer.

Soundy sees it too, Blunt. When I mentioned it to him a while ago he felt the same exact way. I told him nothing he didn't already feel.

I'm already a Christian, I found Jesus just the other day. I made a thread about it in the soapbox.

That did nothing to help your argument.

You and soundbear keep denying the history of your church.

I doubt Blunt is about to lose his power of critical thinking anytime soon.

    How funny is that!!

There's a huge difference between critical thinking and being critical, apparently WITHOUT thinking!!!

my profile to see where I'm posting, or you patrol every other forum to see if I've posted...
There is a 3rd possiblity. I scan the other fora to see if there is anything interesting in them, and hardly ever see you post there.

I find it interesting when an Atheist discusses in a religion forum their reason for not believing as you Christians do, you are often quick to play the "you must secretly believe" card... Has it ever occurred to you that your religion is offensive to many people? And that that could be why they debate the existence of God?

If someone truly believed, do you think there would be any point in fighting off the inevitable?
look at what you said, now reverse it... the same can be said for you and your ilk.
