    Default here we go again....

    http://www.sootoday.com/content/news...ls.asp?c=38504

i would love to discuss this and not have the name calling and idiotic remarks thrown at me. i wonder how long it will take for some special posters to just throw the stupid and rude comments.

there is no way that their lives were in immediate danger! all those big tough men with guns could have done some good scare tactics on that bear. i know that this has been a problem in this trailer park for years and years, naturally, look where the park is! i do think the owners of the park should invest in bear safe dumpsters to help the situation.

I know the person in Question, and For some reason, I serioulsy cannot see him shooting the bear unless it was in danger.

This person is a great guy.. and I can see him trying everthing to deter the bear and if it was a last resort then so be it..

I cannot see Lyle using shooting the bear as a first result. JMO

I think people should get together to help pay these fines. In pennies.

Some bears are not afraid of anything. Those are the ones that keep going back to the same places after they are trapped and moved.

You don't want to discuss this, .... you only want people to agree with you. If we don't, you call us idiots for disagreeing with you. I don't dare use the "Alpha animal" analogy again for fear of the "stupid and idiotic" comments coming the other way.

You have already opened the proverbial can of worms by stating for a fact that you knew nobody's life was in danger, .... how piously presumptuous of you, .... there, is that the start you wanted for your thread, .... you got it!

Can you pay fines in pennies? Someone give me an address or such to drop off some money - not pennies.

Did you know there is a little known Canadian law that you do not have to accept for payment of debt any one denomination of coins totaling more than twenty-five. This means no more than 25 pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, fifty cent pieces, loonies, or toonies. This means the biggest fine you could pay for in loose change would be $97.75.

"SooToday.com was unable to contact the appropriate MNR spokesperson by the time of writing this story."

Well, of course not. Who wants to look like a total idiot.

He should not have plead guilty, and should have looked around for support in the fight.

You are almost right. There is a law but its not for 25 of each coin. We need another way to piss them off. Besides they aren't the poor suckers who would have to count it.

Subsequent investigation by Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers revealed that Armstrong discharged a high-powered rifle from a vehicle at a black bear that was located on private property not owned by Armstrong.

I think this is the kicker?
Just by the way they included it.
....and maybe not from a vehicle!

The guy knew he wounded the bear and did not want it to die in agony......maybe they should just have left it to die somewhere.

There's a reason why you can't discharge rifles in residential areas.
