I don`t have a passport, thought about getting a enhanced drivers licence. But someone recently told me that if my drivers licence has the two pictures on it, that it IS the enhanced one, and that I`m good to go....does anyone know,is this true??

How does the EDL card work?
The enhanced licence card looks similar to a regular driver's licence except it has the words "enhanced' in the title and CAN in the corner to identify the bearer as a Canadian.
A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip is embedded into the card. The chip contains only a unique identification number - there is no other personal information on this chip. At the U.S. port of entry, an RFID reader retrieves this number and transmits it to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) network. CBP then queries the Canada Border Services Agency database in Canada, and the EDL information is then securely transmitted back to the CBP.
The enhanced driver's licence contains the same state-of-the art fraud prevention measures already in place on the regular Ontario driver's licence. For added protection the EDL card comes with a security sleeve to prevent the RFID chip from being read by unauthorized sources.

It says "enhanced" on it. Last year i think i paid $40 to get one. Just book your apt here https://www.services.gov.on.ca/servi...1481&locale=EN print and fill out the paper work and show up for your apt. Had my new license in about 2 weeks. Since I won't fly this was all I needed as we travel in the states.
I go across with one, there only $40 and they take care of the picture part unlike a passport and no mailing away your I.D. Cheaper and easier deal than a passport.
Enhanced is the way to go. Very easy.
I'm paranoid of flying but on a cold day like today I think I'd fly anywhere just to get some heat quick so I'm glad I have a passport for such occasions..lmao!!!

Thank you for the information.

With our nexus card we can fly anywhere in the "north america" as well as boat or car.. alot of people do not relize that. but as stated in the apt you have to watch what you bring back and forth. I thought EDL worked the same.
