Is anyone else having shaw problems?

We just bought a new laptop and replaced our router and we cant seem to keep connected.

This was even happening before all this. Just checking to see if anyone else has these problems.

Called shaw and there is a 2 hour hold time, I'm thinking something is wrong at shaw.

Well it might be coincedence or it could be an issue but we have had terrible connectivity the past few days. Yesterday we had to reboot the modem 6 times. We never had a problem until a few days ago. My hubby still believes shaw routers are crap. We are moving in 12 days so we aren't worried, once we move hubby can get his gear hooked up the way he wants so he can diagnose any issues. Until then we are just dealing with it. I believe it is a shaw issue.

I've had issues, and figure it is my router because when I unplug, then plug back in, it works. We've had this router for three years (pretty much as old as my laptop) so I am figuring, like my laptop, it is becoming obsolete. LOL

We don't have a Shaw router...

Just fixed the problem...lol I ended up having to move the router to a different spot.

Wireless routers may act erratically due to the current solar flares hitting the earth... my internet on my laptop has been periodically disconnecting over the last few days and I figure this is why. Cell phones and other types of wireless devices may be periodically affected at low levels as well.

A lot of times this is causes by interference from other nearby wireless access points or interference from other electronic devices.
Wireless signals are transmitted on channels, and more wireless access points stick to the same default channel. By moving yours to a different channel you can gain a lot of range and signal strength.
What you should do is check your wireless signal strength and the channel you are using.

And I would like to add that this has become a "plague" since Shaw has been including and supporting wireless modem/router combinations.
I have no less than 11 wireless signals available at my house from surrounding neighbors. It seems everybody and their dog has a wireless access point running...
