Apparently, they predicted everything else...lol I know someone who strongly believes something bad will happen in dec. After listening to him one night I went into a panic attack thinking we were all going to die....lol When I asked how this would happen from what i understood ,there is a comet that is going to come very close to earth but the reason we do not see it is because its in the future.. In other words Time is relative to speed at which the observer is travelling. Who knows, I just want to live...lmao

Good point. I wonder, DID the Mayans actually predict the the world would end, or was it just that their calendar stopped??

Edit to add, this raises another thought.

2012 is true. IT IS FACT. Furthermore, the wealthy and greedy of our society will not pass on to the "Garden". As a service to my fellow man, I am willing to sacrifice my soul for others. For your own sake, send all your money to me, so I may carry the burden of wealth into the afterlife for you. No need to thank me, just send your cash before it is too late.

You're the best Shaggy (such a selfless act...lol) but I'd rather send it to your better half. She'll have eliminated the evidence well before the lawsuits of 2013.

There are still a lot of Mayans in Central America.
One can be a true believer in anything: psychic ability, Christianity or, as Bertrand Russell classically suggested (with irony), in the fact there is a teapot orbiting the earth. I could believe any of those things with total conviction. But my conviction doesn't make them true. Indeed, it is something of an insult to the very truth I might hold dear to say that something is true just because I believe it is. ~Derren Brown

There are an estimated 7 million Maya living in this area at the start of the 21st century.[1] Ethnic Maya of Guatemala, southern Mexico and the Yucatán Peninsula, Belize, El Salvador, and western Honduras have managed to maintain substantial remnants of their ancient cultural heritage. Some are quite integrated into the majority hispanicized Mestizo cultures of the nations in which they reside, while others continue a more traditional culturally distinct life, often speaking one of the Maya languages as a primary language.

The Maya calendar is a system of calendars used in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, and in many modern communities in highland Guatemala[1] and in Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico
I think it's fair to say you are wrong as usual.

In your opinion, of course. I trust you notice I didn't say completely gone.

I've been wrong before, and I'll be wrong again.

But I'm very sure that you didn't know, as I didn't, just what state the Mayan culture is in today. And considering their glory days of centuries ago, they certainly don't loom very large on the world stage now.

Well if you follow the conversation it appears you thought that Mayan culture was destroyed. You even went and started a thread on that premis. You can try and back track all you want but you were wrong.

On another note, where you are wrong once again, I was well aware that there is still Mayan people and culture. As far as how looming they were in they glory days, are you serious?

I think they were pretty powerful in their day, ruling over large areas of South America.

Now they have so little visibility that the average well-read person doesn't even know they still exist.

But I'm just as glad you're right.

Try Central America, Yucatan Peninsula area more precisely, nice try though. Maybe you should stop posting before I state the obvious again and get an infraction.

Pardon me all to heck for not knowing all that you seem to have stored in your head. Central America and the Yucatan, quite right. Ain't Wiki wonderful!

There's no need to post insults. Somebody obviously smarter than an old truck mechanic should know that.
