Thumbs down Crule and mean remarks by poster

IT is a sad day when you try to read about the death of young person, who has just past, to find so many posters being nasty, crule, mean, heartless.....
This was a child of our community thatfor some reaso took a bad drugs,
She was a humanbeing with a family and a life time ahead of her.
Those who where so judgemental need to take a close look at themselves to see why they're so angry and heartless.
Respect seems to be lost in this forum all to often.

It is a sad time when anyone dies, however I don't have much sympathy when a girl who knew the dangers of drug use made the choice to start them in the first place. It's called consequence. I am not heartless nor angry just honest.

I feel no sadness for the girl...just her family whom she left behind to wonder what they could have done different. It is easy to say it is or is not the parents fault...we know not the details. The girl was the ONE who DID IT..she made a choice......so the parents should not beat themselves up over that fact.

Exactly, and if I hear one more time how "drug abuse is a disease" I'm going to slap someone. Who ever thinks that, come with me for a ride to Sick Kids hospital, and I'll damn well show you what disease is. You want to play with fire, you get burned. We need to stop justifying and let them drug themselves to death. It'll be one less headache and money saved on trying to rehabilitate people who know better.

I thought former NHLer Theoren Fleury put it best.....

"You can be diagnosed with cancer and one day be 100% cancer free, but I will always be an alcoholic"!.....or something like that.

I think what they are talking about is addiction.

It IS sad when someone dies, but I really don't recall anyone who said, "I think I'll try drugs, sound like fun!!"

There's more to the back story. There almost always is.

really? I'm pretty sure that's why everyone does drugs. I guess it's easy to judge someone based on the fact that they died while doing drugs, however, it's not like these things are uncommon. And cocaine is a pretty popular drug everywhere. So to a young person, the dangers may not be as apparent.

if it had been someone close to them or someone they actually knew, the thread would have been full of insincere condolances and crying the blues about how it was too soon ect..

All young people think they're invulnerable.

Really?? I was in a position of authority, over my children.

None smoke or do drugs. Only thing they might do is a glass of wine or a beer once in a while.

People try them out because they think it will be fun. You can't make up your facts if you yourself haven't done it, so unless you are telling us you have and there was an underlying reason behind it, why not admit defeat and take it from people who have... it was cause it was thought it would be a good time.

And, I assume you have been with your kids 24/7 everyday of their lives? I am willing to bet at least one has "tried" it, and likely didn't run home and tell Daddy.

I agree... it's very sad when a person can't show compassion for another person who is suffering. Unfortunately many will never learn to show compassion until they suffer in the same way.
Sometimes, things are not as they appear. Don't judge what u know nothing about.

You're the most uninformed person on these boards.

There isn't even a close second.

Well, leaving out my own kids, working with youth at church, working at a drug re-hab place, and with Children's Aid, I guess you're right.

WOW. Simba I am quite shocked by this response....especially as a mother to teenagers. Of course drugs are wrong, and I would be upset if my kids tried them also. But people make mistakes.

We can't be with our children 24/7 to watch what they are doing. Some experiment, some don't, some get addicted unfortunately.
Taking drugs is a choice, and IMO, not a result of poor parenting, EVER. Poor parenting is being a poor role model and accepting that their child is addicted and not offering help if and when they reach out for it. You cannot threaten or discipline a person into quitting an addiction. They have to come to that conclusion themselves.

I feel very sorry for this girl and her parents. I don't believe she took these drugs to die, she took them to get a buzz even though she probably knew the dangers of taking coke.

Unless you know her personally and partied with her (I don't), no one knows how many times she took drugs previously and enjoyed their effects. This was either a bad batch or an accidental overdose.

    I hate drugs!
