Default Soo History: Imperial Esso service station on corner of Queen & ?????

We were looking through some old pictures of a parade on Queen from 1971 or so. In the background is an Imperial Esso service station. From what we can see in other pictures (assuming all were taken from the same spot) we think it was on the southeast corner of Queen and Elgin, where the (or what used to be called) Hoogovens building is now. Can anyone confirm?

I think that you are correct. Sears should have been on the south-western corner and a hardware store on the north-western corner. I believe that there was a dairy building behind it on Bay Street

    Thanks.

One of the pictures shows the corner of the store on the southwest corner. It had a strange sign that stuck out from the corner of the building (could not read the letters) and also had an overhang over the sidewalk. We also thought that was the Sears store. That would be the current FabricLand building, wouldn't it? Another tip was what looked like the Windsor Park building in the background of the east facing photo. We're pretty sure the location is Queen & Elgin.
