I think weightlifting goes by classes of weight.

The strongest weightlifters would be men, since men are ulitmately the biggest and straongest.

But in lower weight categories, it would not really surprise me to find the occasional woman who could compete favourably with the men.

The small guys do the best.

The competions have overall winner that is judged by what percentage of their body weight was lifted. It's almost 6 times their body weight.

The smaller guys usually have a better chance than the heavyweights.

It doesn't have anything to do with gender, but it does have something to do with talent!

A lot of times it has to do with how well you qualified. If you have to start deep in the field your chances of getting caught up in something goes way up.

SOME women might compete head to head with men, especially where sheer strength is not that great an issue.

Transgendered (male to female) persons would have an unfair advantage if allowed to compete in womens sports.

It is my opinion, in sports where the smallest men are smaller than the largest women, women should be able to compete. For example, the snallest player in the NBA was 5'4". I think a woman of six feet or more should be able to hold her own.

I think there are probably other sports where this same idea might apply.

But a Walter-turned-Jenna has 50% greater total muscle mass than me. Even at the same height and weight, I would only be 80% as strong. He has a larger heart and larger lungs, and greater amounts of red blood cells flowing through his veins. If a Walter-turned-Jenna jogged at 50% of his capacity, I would need to work at over 70% of my capacity to keep up. His bone structure, the angle of alignment of his elbows, pelvis, and other male skeletal distinctives would also give him an advantage over me in most sports. His femaleness is a facade. No amount of gender-reassignment surgery and artificial hormones can change the maleness of his DNA. Each cell in his body remains distinctly male.

Disprove the above, and you might have a case. The difference in the pelvis is enough to put her at a disadvantage in anything requiring bipedal locomotion.
