While the sentiment is great, I really don't think it is fair or appropriate to pressure people into donating to a cause just because they've shown up to cash in their empties. It's right up on my list with being asked to donate a dollar every time I shop at Walmart. I donate a substantial amount of money to charities every year and don't appreciate the grab at the cash register at all.

The Beer Store staff is not doing the collecting (at least ot at the Churchill Plaza Store). There are a bunch of teenage kids outside the Beer Store doing the collecting. They have the empties piling up in front of the store. They also have a hockey goal set up, if you want to try to win a prize (if you donate $2 or bottles). You have to shoot a ball through a hole in front of the net. If you don't want to give them the bottles, you bring them inside as usual. No one is harassing anyone. I saw other people going into the store with their empties and the kids never bothered them. They are collecting again today (Sunday).

This one annoys me as well. I don't mind giving once but sometimes I run into walmart 2 times in a day or several times a week, specially with renovations and now gardening season etc. If I were to give every time I went I would be spending a heck of a lot, but I also don't like looking like a cold hearted B just because I say no.
