    Default Which eReader to buy?

I know this has been posted before but I would like to hear from anyone that has an eReader such as a Kindle, Kobo or Sony. Which is the best one to buy? Let me know how each works with downloads and which is easier to use or download books on. I am looking to buy one for my daughter for graduation and just want to hear from anyone who owns an eReader.

my mom bought a cheap kindle and she loves it. since she is in goulais and they dont have high speed, i download everything for her here in town and she transfers it easily. little bit of a learning curve - but then im just not computer literate. there are lots of books for free or very cheap and lots of different deals each week for the kindle and amazon. all she wanted it for was to download lots of books onto and read them whenever. it stores 1000's of books in that little thing. you can get other features, it just depends on what all you want to use it for.

I have a Kindle Fire and love it but if you are just looking for an Ereader go with an ordinary Kindle

I recently bought myself a Kobo Touch. It's nothing fancy, but the price was right @$99. I just wanted something basic. No bells & whistles needed. One of my main reasons for buying a Kobo was so I could use the library e-book site to get books for free. I admit it... I'm cheap lol. I don't forsee buying any e-books in the near future because I just can't justify spending the $$ on it when I can borrow for free. lol Unfortunately, the library site isn't compatible for the Kindle unless you're in the US.

I've had it for about a month now & like it. It holds almost 1,000 books on the internal memory, but was able to buy an additional memory card for under $10 to expand that up to almost 30,000. The Kobo website also has over 1 million free downloads... I haven't spent much time downloading yet because a friend of mine hooked me up with a pile of e-books already, but I did find a few on there already. Oh, and since I'm a nerd & am addicted to Sudoku, I was excited to find an app on the Kobo where I can play it. haha

The one thing I do recommend is the Calibre Portable for organizing your books. My friend introduced me to it & it's a great way to organize all your books & it's very easy to load books onto my Kobo It's "Idiot proof" as I call it. lol

I spent some time researching the different e-readers on the internet & talked to a few friends before I bought one. The Kobo had everything I needed, but everyone's needs vary. Good luck in your hunt.

Thank you all for your input. Im leaning towards the Kobo, I just want something simple and easy for her to use. She loves to read so I think it will be the perfect gift for her for grad. I have heard the Kindle doesn't have many free downloads here in Canada so probably best to go with the Kobo.

I have Kindle, and use Amazon.com, vs Amazon.ca for downloads. I have found tons of free, great books. When I do a search, I do the search in price, from lowest to highest...that way, it gives you tons of free books, or books for under $2 or $3.

I have downloaded lots of free books for my Kindle....from Aazon.com They have new free books everyday. However, I will also suggest that the Sony ereader may also be a good choice for your daughter. She can get free books from the library making it very easy for her to do herself.

I thought if you lived in Canada it was harder to download books from Amazon for the Kindle, that's what I heard but I could be wrong. I find all these electronic things too darn confusing at times, lol.

I have a Kindle and love it! Very easy to use. I currently have 820 books on my Kindle and approx. 815 of them were free! I get a lot of my free books from pixelofink.com, they send me an email everyday with a list of free books available at Amazon, just one click and the book is yours...lol.

I don't know how to do that, but I know it can be done, because my friend transferred a bunch of her books to me. There's a way to change the file types, but I'm lost!

Your welcome everywoman. You will love POI
ssmarie I don't know how to share books that I have got off of Amazon, but I have a few books that were shared with me and I have shared them.
Northerngirl if your daughter is a reader than she will love a Kindle. I actually prefer the Kindle screen to a regular book, it seems to be easier on the eyes
