    Default embers grill

so, on the same point as the fresco thread i would like to say how pleased we were with embers last week. the service was fantastic, the food was incredible and the prices were so very reasonable! they are also a local business i will continue to support. (they were also very generous with donating to local charities and i support that!)

It's been on my list to try. I've heard many good things about them.

Great food. Nice atmosphere. I, however, had the waitress from h-e- double hockey sticks! LOL. The owner was quite accommodating when I called the next day with my list of complaints. I'll go back again. Just hope I don't get the same girl!! I can't believe there are 2 threads in the soapbox about probably the only 2 places I've had so-so service! LOL. I hope I don't sound like a whiner!

How do you know she wasn't late? Do you do their scheduling?

i remember saying this awhile back. when my daughter goes to traverse city she feels like she has to buy something in every store she goes into because the staff are so nice and so helpful and she feels bad if she doesnt buy something. and i try to tell her that that is their job and that it sure would be nice if our sales people were so good here.

I was also wondering how Corky knew the girl was not late for her shift. Kids today are not taught customer service nor are they taught how to even apply for a job. I was in a position for the past 2 weeks to talk with people handing in their resume for a retail job. First impressions are so important and I lost count of the number if young people that came to the job fair wearing ratty jeans or shorts, baseball caps, chomping on gum and looking like this was the last place on earth they wanted to be. I know retail is not glamorous but the experience is all in how you make it - it can be fun and rewarding. If anything a first job prepares you for future jobs but one has to be willing to learn and make an effort.

Not really - at least they keep store clean and besides when else are they supposed to do it - there are a lot of things to look after when closing a store.

and edited to add: karenannie, its a grill place, i dont really know, but i think their specialty is cooking on the grill. there seemed to be a nice variety and it was very tasty. it is on queen where the old peacock gardens used to be.

Awesome beef tips with mushrooms. I've never eaten in, I only do take out because I'm always at work. Nice to hear atmosphere is good.

Um, that should be stuff done "after" the store is closed, or "before" the store opens. Not while customers are walking around the store. To me that says, "sorry we're closing come back again". Owners should take that into account or hire cleaners for when the business is closed.

Except that a lot of retail stores don't pay past close. Some do but a lot don't. So why waste time after closing to clean up when you're not even getting paid. Three stores I worked at as a teen didn't pay past closing time.
