Right now on facebook theres a group of locals in EL who are planning to enter the mall tonight, absolutely crazy! I sure hope that the OPP are watching the social media sites tonight, and that the officers on scene are prepared for what "may" happen tonight

I guess they need to call FDNY, they didnt seem to mind risking their lives to rescue people buried under two unsafe collapsed buildings....

I recall with the last large earthquake in California the rescuers went into and under unstable buildings even with after shocks shaking everything to save the trapped. Yet we Canadians throw up our hands, walk away and through the tapping of at least one survivor pat one another on the back saying "Hey, we tried". I realize they are concerned about them selves but to walk away from a survivor? I have never been in this situation before so I guess I can't judge. It rankles that Americans can do something Canadians can't.

there are probably a good thousand people gathered downtown right now. the police are out in full force and i'm sure they've called in reinforcements because there are alot more out than our town has, i think. yes, they are expecting a riot.

I don't get it though, 80 x 40 ft section collapsed, that doesn't even seem that big an area; granted it collapsed the stuff under it too, but it seems like something that any real good search and rescue operation would have cleaned up in a couple days.

It was two floors that collapsed, including the 2 foot thick roof concrete. It also took out one of the main structural crossbeams and the rest of the building is shaking. Not so easy to work with....

My family member is there--part of the rescue guys from the sault--the site is not safe for them-the mall will cave in and hurt more people-I pray for those that are hurt and missing-but I need my husband and dad of my children home with us-keep trying but make sure all are safe to work there

They say there are some miners coming from Timmins.

There is a very very large piece of equiptment coming in that will allow them to work from the Outside. Keeping the workers safer, they must build a new road to get it in to the mall site.

Its quite an undertaking but hopefully it will help get the rescue teams in to where the people are burried.
