Default Vatican gets Fox media adviser

The Vatican has brought in the Fox News correspondent in Rome to help improve its communications strategy as it tries to cope with years of communications blunders and one of its most serious scandals in decades, officials said Saturday.

Greg Burke, 52, will leave Fox to become the senior communications adviser in the Vatican's secretariat of state, the Vatican and Burke told The Associated Press...

He defined his job, which he said he had been offered twice before, as being along the lines of the White House senior communications adviser: "You're shaping the message, you're molding the message, and you're trying to make sure everyone remains on-message.
    And that's tough.

The Truth and God's church does not need a spin-meister. The Vatican is behaving like a corporation that's trying to back pedal after knowingly releasing a defective product.

This is not only cheesy, but very telling.

His primary job will probably be to make sure that whatever is released can't be taken two ways, as the media will inevitably choose the worst, given the chance.

Sell my cloths I'm going to Heaven, the Vatican has a spin doctor. That is the height of something or other right there. SB, if it does not happen it can't be reported. either correctly or incorrectly. Even with the revelations with the boy scouts they have yet to hire a professional spin doctor. This is EXACTLY like RW in the respect of ya, we did that but look what these guys did. BULL$H77!!!!!!

No one sees the irony of the media protraying such a person as a "spin doctor" ??

My use of the "spin doctor" term was not precipitated by the artical as I saw a few words and reacted. Therefore I had no clue the media was bandying the term about. My point SB is this is just another level of the Catholic defense of hundreds if not thousands of years of protecting pedophiliac Priests. Once again it is not what they did but how they handled it that I find most upsetting. The fact of the matter remains an institution which offers itself as the sole representative of God could/ will and does protect the people in question and defend their position, no pun intended.

How else can it be reported? There's no sensationalism in reporting disgusting facts/allegations such as these. I agree your adage has merit in a lot of other areas, but when it comes to hiding and protecting the molesters to save face..............these are just the cold hard facts that expose it for what it is.

    There's no sensationalism?? Hmmm.

    Sells papers, though.

Ya know, it's hard to believe that the Vatican never had an officail spokesperson up to now.

Of course the Vatican has its official spokesmen. Greg Burke wasn't hired hired as a spokesman, he was hired as an "adviser." From the article:

"He defined his job, which he said he had been offered twice before, as being along the lines of the White House senior communications adviser: "You're shaping the message, you're molding the message, and you're trying to make sure everyone remains on-message. And that's tough.""

You've somehow equated the truth (more times than not) to sensationalism.............care to explain? Or would it be safe to say "if it sells it's sensationalism" regardless of the facts or content.

I believe what's being overlooked is what these people did and how they were protected by the church which sadly allowed some to re-offend.

    That sounds about right.

And made obvious anytime someone is charged with a crime, and makes the front page, but if exonerated, it's in the back.

I'm not overlooking the evil that has been committed. I'm just not impressed when evil men point it out for their own benefit.

I HOPE one doesn't have to be religious to recognize evil.

The media acts the same way.

Without religion, we wouldn't acknowledge that 'evil' is a thing. For 'evil' to exist, it took religion.

From your point of view, I'm sure that makes sense.
