    Cool birthday help

hi gang. so my lil dude is turning one in august. we are having his birthday party on the 25th. i have found what limited supplies sault ste. marie has to offer in the way of hawaiian/luau/beach party themes.

i am putting a call out to people for really cheaply priced decorations, or giveaways if you don' t need them. or even stuff i can borrow that will be returned the following sunday in the same condition and in good faith.

palm trees and anything hawaii related. we are pinteresting everything with great ideas. i am just asking for extra help to give an amazingly awesome little man the greatest first birthday i can give him.

I would suggest just making it fun and colourful!! A one year old is not going to remember or notice a theme - plus it's a hell of a lot of work, not to mention expensive. Save your bucks for the big themed parties you have coming up -the ones he is going to request, hopefully appreciate and remember.

could not have said it better myself.....it is a kid's first birthday....let him/her go nuts with a cake and frosting and take tons of pictures....to me a themed birthday party is for an adult....

The dollar store in Sault Michigan has lots of that sort of thing. Also there is a great website that I have used for themed parties called oriental trading. They ship to Canada. I agree with a few other posts....take lots of pictures because the day will fly by and it's hard to remember everything. And it won't all go perfectly, but don't sweat that stuff. Enjoy your birthday child and your family.

    Check out www.orientaltrading.com

They have tons of wicked party supplies at really decent prices. Great for things like stag & doe parties too.

Seems a hell of a lot to go through to impress adults 'cause you just gotta know the kid sure as hell ain't gonna notice the "theme". Keep it simple and inexpensive 'cause remember you gotta be bigger and better next year and by 21 you is gonna be BROKE!

It is true what some others have said... a themed party is more for the adults, but your son's first birthday is only going to happen once, so have fun with it & make it as memorable as possible for yourself & your guests.

As far as decorations... there's a party store in Sault Michigan, by Joanne's Fabrics I think. It's been a while since I was in there, but if I memory serves me correctly, they had tons of Hawaiian themed stuff.

    Good luck in your hunt.

(ps. found it online... it's called Party Station... they have a facebook page where you can inquire what they have before heading over https://www.facebook.com/PartyStationSault)
