Unhappy Olympic metals Quantity or quality?

I see from this link they rank countries by how many Gold metals they have rather then metal count. http://www.london2012.com/medals/medal-count/

They but Switzerland ahead of Canada with 3 metals while we have 18.

Japan is below Kazakhstan when they have 36 vs there 10.

From statisticians with too much time on their hands...

Official medal ranking: #1 - USA
Medal ranking based on team size: #1 - China
Medal ranking based on GDP: #1 - Grenada
Medal ranking based on population: #1 - Grenada

The fact that Canadians have stood on the podium 18 times so far is more than enough to keep me a proud Canadian. The gold medals aren't really made of gold anymore, anyway!

Have you seen the US media castigating the Brits for too much patriotism in their reporting??

    That's freakin' hilarious!!!

The greater they are, the harder they fall.

    Envious of that inevitability??? Nah!!!

I would say quality over quantity. While having a lot of medal is nice, it is a competition to find out who has the best athletes in the world. Not the most 2nd or 3rd best athletes.

Keeping with that thought, do you remember 2010 when we were #1 the most gold medals beating out Germany and USA even though they had a better overall medal count.
