    Default What the heck is this prehistoric looking thing???

    My son found this creepy looking catipillar yesterday.. The eyes?? freak me out. any idea what it turns into??

    That thing really is weird but it kind of grows on you! I'd suggest taking it down to the Forest Research Building down by the park and see if someone there can tell you what it is. That or maybe the University or College?

    I believe the markings representing eyes are there for defensive purposes.It makes it look larger than what it really is as well as giving the appearance that it's looking in the opposite direction.
    Fact always trumps opinion.

    If you go down the page and look at the pics of the Tiger Swallowtail, there is one where they turn brown when they are going to pupate. Looks like the little fella's buddy to me! :-)
