My PC is so slow it is ridiculous

I've recently added McAfee virus protection hoping that it would help, but it hasn't.

Who does the best repair work or what can I do to speed things up? It is driving me nutty.

How is it slow?

My computer is currently down so I dragged out an old laptop which in the past had caused me to become addicted to caffeine due to the numerous cups I could consume waiting for responses while doing basic surfing for news, sports, etc.. I updated my browser to Google chrome and the increase in speed is unbelievable.
