anyone been to hawaii, oahu?

my mom and her sister are off to oahu next week. ive been doing some internet searches of stuff to see and do. im wondering if anyone has been there and has any suggestions.

so far they are going to the polyneisan (sp) village for the leau (sp?) and to pearl harbour.

I was there in December/January... only spent 3 days on Oahu though, and 9 on Maui.

Where are they staying exactly? If it's Honolulu, they've got lots to do. It's the party island, with lively streets up until about 2am, Hawaii local time.

It's got some fancy bars and great restaurants along the same street as Waikiki Beach, including Planet Hollywood if you enjoy that atmosphere.. though I wasn't pleased with the meal really. Every evening, and during the day as well, you'll see people with various birds who will pose you with them for a photo and a little cash as payment of course, you've got the robot guys, painted silver & gold from head to toe, you can take pictures with them, for a donation as well. There's guys that do magic shows, card tricks..etc... this is all the on the same street by the way. Our hotel that we stayed at was a 5 minute walk down the street from the beach.

The Honolulu Zoo is there as well, nice place to spend an afternoon, chasing Peacocks, or checking out Timon & Pumbaa if you'd prefer.

The shops are open in the street all day, every day... barter, you'll get some good deals with certain people, while others rip you off. If you want good exercise, there's a huge mountain nearby that you can walk or bike up (rent a bike).

EDIT: Forgot...LOL...Pearl Harbor. It was great to visit, you learn a lot, and get to go aboard the USS Bowfin sub & travel over to and go inside the USS Battleship Missouri as well.

my mom and her sister are older and not really into the party stuff. but i like the idea of all the buskers throughout the area and posing with them and stuff. its hard to find info on my google searches, usually im pretty good, but not this time. im looking at volcano tours, ocean tours, beautiful scenic lookouts, historical stuff. so far they are just going there and dont really have any plans for the week. they are not sun worshippers/beach folk either. so im not sure what they are going to do, im just trying to help with some ideas and stuff. ive been searching for awhile, and just thot to ask soonet today. thanks apple!
