I would postulate drinkers have similar abnormalities yet alcohol is tolerated. Yet one is legal...............

Booze has far more devastating effects on society than pot ever will.

One of the points in the article was the moderate use of marijuana is harmful. The moderate use of alcohol is not. In fact it is healthy.

Ever ask yourself why doctors have started prescribing pot for their patients, and have stopped prescribing booze for their patients?

Get with the modern times, man.

Sock, when you post comments like that, you look like a troll. I do hope you haven't been taking lessons.

I sincerely expressed those sentiments. You will find that trolls tend to lack sincerity.

My follow-up comment should provide evidence to substantiate my claim.

Throwing 2,000 year old remedies around, does not substantiate anything.

Until we have pot in almost every household, with people using it as they do alcohol, we will not know the true side effects. When we start having pot readily available in our homes so our children will be able to access it in the same way they do alcohol, then we can start seeing negative effects. We all know that some children will do this!

To my knowledge a drink a day keeps the doctor away.

The problem is recognizing sincerity in some comments.

Doctors have NOT stopped prescribing a little wine. Had my own doctor do it.

As to 2000 year old remedies, I haven't heard that its value has changed. Not often seen in North America, but then, we have access to good water almost everywhere, which feeds the religious right's negativity to ANY alcohol.

Yeah, but can you go to Shopper's, and pick up the wine that doctor ordered? Don't think so. There's a reason for that.

    Yup. Ontario's archaic alcohol laws.

Not like wine is hard to get.

Liquor Control Board? One of the last vestige of our Victorian ways?

Ontario? Try all of North America!

Doctors don't write prescriptions for booze anymore. Why? Because it's not medicine!

But oddly, pot is. Go figure.

Doctors don't write prescriptions for aspirin either. Why?? Because you can get it anywhere. If they think it's a good idea, they will just tell you.

    Pot, not quite so easy.

I, for one have been told a beer every second day by my vet as we have troubles with regulating my INR.

I suppose there's some fancy drug available now, but when my wife worked maternity, the fridge was always stocked with beer. Promoted post-partum healing.

"Doctors don't write prescriptions for aspirin either."

Wrongo. In my field of work, we need doctor's orders to give out even aspirin. And many of the people I work with have doctor's orders for aspirin.

Strangely, nobody I have worked with in over 20 years has ever had a doctor's order for booze, though.

Beer doesn't promote postpartum healing. It does however help breastfeeding mothers with milk production.
