A Potential Course of Action

I personally think that there should be a community meeting about the water issue at Pinewood or Parkland or Grandview school or at the White Pines auditorium. The residents of the east end do need to discuss this problem and choose a course of action. The current crisis is in its dying hours, yes, and everything will go back to normal, yes again, but in the back of everyone's minds, people will always think "When will the PUC screw up again?" They WILL screw up. It's been screw up after screw up for the past few months. Letters in the Sault Star or on Sootoday or SaultOnline, that ain't gonna grab attention. A community meeting will. Perhaps a protest at the PUC will. Petitions and letters have largely fallen on deaf ears so far. The PUC, as I wrote last night on Sault Transit Reform, has a horrible way of communicating with residents. We need to put up a united front, calling the PUC, demanding accountability. People want discounts on their water bills. People want more than silly press releases. Although no actions are likely to take place, I'm just putting the idea of DOING something out there...

I remember reading something a while back about PUC planning on changing the chemicals in the water to make it less corrosive, in an attempt to fix the sediment issue.
Anybody remember that?

I think what should be done is put the heat on the MOE, seeing PUC does not seem to have a good grasp on this whole water situation, including the brown water issues that have been reported so many times.
The MOE is ultimately responsible to ensure the PUC is in compliance with all regulations. That compliance should include clean water that is not contaminated with a substance that causes discoloration.

Seems like Toledo has a bit of a water problem. At least we haven't got to the point where we can't use the water even if it is boiled.

With the up coming municipal election, the mayor and (councillors of the affected areas) should be concerned about re-election.

Our directorships are voluntary for the common man but appointed and (paid?) for Councillors?

So Pat Mick city councillor in ward 3 and Marchy Bruni city councillor in ward 5 both sit on the PUC INC. and PUC SERVICES INC. Board of Directors. Therefore those voting in those wards may want to take this into consideration.

And the next group to occupy these positions will either be voted back (sending the signal it's ok to not have our backs) or new knowing full well they better have our best interest in mind.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to remove him from that position. When he does finally step down, I hope they have the sense to put a term on that position.
