Thread: Local FedEx

    Question Local FedEx

    Morning Folks,

I know this has been discussed before, but all of the previous threads are years old and most of the numbers are out of service.

I have a few packages that need to be shipped from the Soo to me Toronto and I would like my sister in the Soo to use FedEx as I have a great rate through my corporate account.

Problem is, I am having a hard time finding details.

Go FedEx toll free number tells me the closest location to SSM is Sudbury.

Staples on Grt Norther Rd has confirmed they have a drop off box, but said its for envelopes only. They don't have contact details of who actually picks it up.

Old threads have suggested Sault Express or some locations in Industrial Court, but most numbers I found online are out of service or never pick up.

I'm pretty blown away its been this difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just call their toll free and ask for a pickup.

Call their toll free number and I believe Purolator does their local pick ups here under contract.

I called fedex twice this morning and was told that pickup is not available in the Sault. lol

I just called now, and they told me it was :P

Fingers crossed they still realize its available when I actually schedule it later this week

For those wondering, cut off time for next day delivery is 1:30pm. They need a 2 hour window when picking up packages.

Purolator handles UPS locally under contract. Fed Ex has their own guys.

I don't think so but maybe?

Are UPS and Fed EX the same company?

I know the Fed Ex guys drive around in Fed Ex vans and pick up and deliver Fed Ex Freight.

    Not so for UPS though.

I go by a friend with Purolator and has been for many years. Perhaps you know more than I so I will aquiesse. I had missed the UPS reference in your post and apologize.

From what I heard, there is a sorting facility for FedEx up in the Industrial Court. Apparently, you can pick up packages that were 'missed delivery' between 8:30 and 9:30 in the morning, when the drivers are preparing their daily runs, but I don't know if you can bring things into there for shipping out.

Wish I had more information, like an address or a phone number, but maybe if you call FedEx, you can get the details?

A local Fedex driver just told me you can call 1-800-GOFEDEX to schedule a pickup.

Yes that's correct. As I said above, for those wondering, cut off time for next day delivery is 1:30pm. They need a 2 hour window when picking up packages.

oh ya, they now charge a brokerage fee to those receiving items. No mention of it till it shows up at your door. Only credit cards and cheques they take at the door. Sneaky buggers

If you are importing it, you have to pay those fees.

You COULD have the items shipped to Weirs and import them yourself.

Personally, I find it handy to use their services.
