Still better than paying 100$+ for a new OS.

You didnt have 7/8/8.1 installed already? If so, your first point is moot. Given you have damn good connection, and even on that old Vertex 4 the upgrade process couldnt have taken more than 15 min if that. Re-install same thing. 30-40 min of work to save money on a damn good OS. And besides its being deployed as an "upgrade" (presumably to get your hardware config and such) with an option for a fresh install.

On another note - have you run into any issues recently regarding GPU drivers failing for no damn good reason? My primary rig had that issue for a while, ended up having to reinstall. Although that install was a 5 year old windows 7 install migrated to about 15 diff configurations and then upgraded to the first pub release of 10, and subsequent builds until RTM hit.

No, I did not have 8.1 installed already. Annoying you have to do that first.
    I still prefer my 7 over 10.

When i upgraded the clean install of windows 8.1 pro to windows 10 pro, I had issues with windows not opening, and unable to access the display settings when right clicking on the desktop.
I had to do a fresh install to get that to work properly.

My Ms Office was working fine. I upgraded to Win 10. Now I get an error message saying goes, Microsoft Word has not been in stalled for the current user please run setup to install the application. This happens so now with all your ms office apps.

No I don't have the original disks.

I have not upgraded any of my installations that have office installed to windows 10, so I cannot say for sure what exactly the issue is.

I found these on the internet:

I would first run the office diagnostics to see if it finds and repairs any errors: https://www.raymond.cc/blog/automati...2007-problems/
The procedure will be different pending on your version of office.

Secondly I would try the following fix, which will also be dependent on your office version: https://www.raymond.cc/blog/fix-micr...nt-user-error/
This link also has the option to download the dll file in questions should you not have access to your original disks.

There is also a Microsoft bulletin that deals with that error: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/898512

There is a video explaining this in more detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ0q7U61dIo
However, I would recommend downloading the file from the location I provided above rather than the mediafire location.

As always, be careful when downloading files from anywhere besides Microsoft or other trustworthy sources.
