I'm not sure that there are many more "disasters" compared to the past. What IS different is instantaneous global information saturation and 24/7 repetition on television and the Net.We SEE disasters as they are happening no matter where in the world(and space, for that matter)they occur.Reading about stuff in the paper days or weeks later distances them for our more immediate emotions.9-11 would still have been a disaster but wouldn't have grabbed us and stunned us as intensely if we only, days later, read aqbout the towers being hit and collapsing rather than watching it unfold in real time.
Back earlier in this thread the notion that Jesus,to "test" our belief in Him,would have us committing sins, breaking the Ten Commandments(and more) with impunity startled me.To posit that Jesus would test us by having us go against all that He stood for is .......I don't have a word.
Oh WOW!! I never noticed before......we get a cake beside our name on our birthday?????How cool! Thanks Soonet...what a neat surprise!!
