With the trade deadline long gone, I guess we'll see what value other GM's put on him this summer when the Leaf's shop him out. Maybe the move will do him good (confidence) and he'll become a #3-4 D-man again. But right now I just don't see it in him...

Agreed. As I said earlier, they'll need to swallow some salary which shouldn't be an issue as they build a younger club.

Great,we'l take him as a depth d-man.We won't be as stupid as the Laffs and think he is a 1 or 2.

Sportsnet yesterday said Dion was "devastated" a trade couldn't be worked out to get him out of Toronto and to Detroit.

    Who wouldn't be devastated??

I never understood why he was made the captain in the first place.

We can pin that one on our Idiot American President of Hockey Ops Brian Burke.

No question,it's a big risk making a Canadian captain

Good promotion for Dubas, though. Even if it is only on an interim basis.

Hearing Jeff Blashill's name thrown around as a potential candidate for coach. He used to be in our street hockey league when we were kids. Obviously the skills he learned around here make him a very viable NHL coach.

An AHL coach has been rumoured for some time so this may be possible. I would speculate they may be looking for a coach who excels in the development and building.

This is either a stroke of brilliance on Shanny's part, or proof the Leafs are now forever cursed to be a laughingstock.

Maybe he was brought in to take Dubas under his wing and groom him to be the next GM.

But, wow, Babcock and Lou under the same roof...talk about a clash of egos

I can see him groom/guide Dubas but I can't see him toting a great deal of decision making power within the organization. I believe Babcock decisions will weigh heavily into who they pursue. I can't see his judgment being taken lightly.
