Default It's a literal festival of safety

The Kidz Summer Safety Festival is a day of interactive displays and exhibits from various vendors and service providers and will focus on fun and injury prevention activities. The event will take place on Sunday, June 7 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion.
The event will take place come rain or shine, and admission is free.
Activities will include a bike rodeo, bike registration, train rides, swimming and water safety, boating safety, face painting, an inflatable park, bicycle helmet fitting, finger printing and much more.

Hey kids, lets go to the safety festival to learn about bike safety and boat safety. And while we're there, Daddy's going to hand you over to the cops so you can be fingerprinted like a criminal. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Maybe they will give the prints to the parents so that they have a record for victim identification should their kid go missing or turn up dead.

Several years ago they had funding for kits (at community functions) that would include a photo, finger printing, a lock of hair and a worn item of clothing that the parent would keep for just such an emergency.

I'm waiting for canoe registration, insurance and licensing to show up soon with lake and river usage permits to follow. Give it time.
