    Angry This Doesn't Happen ...

    ...according to BM.

Though Protestant and Catholic abuse numbers are virtually identical (Protestant numbers are in fact a bit higher, according to the Southern Baptist Convention a few years ago), BM claims the Catholic issue is the worst, because (he opines wrongly) the RCC has a structured hierarchy that allows its upper echelon to protect its own while silencing victims.

No such thing exists in Protestantism, according to BM...

Child abuse isn’t just a Catholic problem, it’s also a Calvinist problem, according to an April 20 podcast sympathetic to the so-called “young, restless and reformed” movement popular among evangelicals belonging to denominations including the Southern Baptist Convention.

Mortification of Spin, a weekly podcast from the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals — a coalition of pastors, scholars, and churchmen seeking to recover and promote biblical doctrines central to the Protestant Reformation — this week examined highly publicized scandals involving celebrity preachers accused of turning a blind eye at the expense of victims of child sexual abuse.

“There is gossip out there,” Trueman acknowledged. “There are malicious people who bear vicious rumors, but some of the recent cases of allegations of child abuse in the Protestant evangelical church are not just malicious rumors. And when lawsuits get dismissed on technicalities, that’s a problem. When allegations are made that would be easy to refute, such as the acceptance of vacations or money or whatever, that could be easy to refute if they’re not true, and they’re not refuted, then I think reputations are publicly tarnished in a way that puts you in the crosshairs of First Timothy, chapter three, verse seven.”

Trueman said child sex abuse “has done incalculable damage to ordinary Christians, not only those who’ve been abused but those who quite frankly get sick of the cover ups and sick of the self-serving rhetoric at the top.”

So, BM is, at best, posting half-truths and basing his opinions on little knowledge; or, at worst, continuing a troubling pattern of posting lie after lie after lie.

Now, next will come Blue and Barney lamenting this was even posted. They are, in reality, lamenting the fact I just don't ignore the fact Barry lies about the RCC. I mean, after all, they've been ignoring it for a long time, why can't I??

Please post a list of "lies", as you erroneously call them.

More stuff that doesn't happen ...

The Association of Baptists for World Evangelism has released a 280-page report revealing how its leaders failed to stop a leading missionary surgeon from sexually abusing 22 women and girls.

Starting in 1961, missionary Donn Ketcham served at Memorial Christian Hospital in Malumghat, southeast Bangladesh. He was fired in 1989, for sexually abusing an underage teenage girl, who was labeled as a "willing partner" and coerced to confess.

But the new report, released May 10, shows a far wider trail of abuse, which began in 1964 and continued until 1989.

"We're devastated by the negligence of ABWE leadership in failing to remove Ketcham from the field again and again," said the family of the underage teen survivor. "We wish that ABWE leaders could comprehend the immeasurable pain that this … continues to cause her even to this day."

"What Donn Ketcham did was reprehensible, and ABWE's lack of oversight and action was simply inexcusable."

"ABWE deliberately chose to sacrifice the lives of untold numbers of child victims in order to protect its own reputation and the reputation of a dangerous sexual offender," said Boz Tchividjian, head of GRACE.

One sobering lesson of the child sex-abuse scandals of recent years is that perpetrators who are not stopped usually find new victims. Reporting by Providence Journal Staff Writers Karen Lee Ziner and Jacqueline Tempera on May 1 has added disturbing new details to the story of Howard White, one of six former employees recently accused of improper behavior at St. George’s School, in Middletown. News of the allegations against Mr. White has had a ripple effect, bringing at least three additional accusers out of the shadows.

In 1974, Mr. White was quietly dismissed by St. George’s from his job as assistant chaplain after he admitted to sexual misconduct, according to a report issued last year by the school. But his behavior was not reported to child protection authorities, as required by law.

Mr. White went on to work at a girls’ school in Virginia from 1978 to 1982 and then moved on to a coed private school in North Carolina for two years. While no accusations have arisen from either setting, additional allegations did recently emerge from Waynesville, N.C., where Mr. White served as rector of Grace Church in the Mountains for 22 years.

The controversial founder of one of Europe's largest Protestant churches is battling some in his church leadership over his reaction to multiple affairs.

Sunday Adelaja, a Nigerian pastor who leads the charismatic Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, has admitted to having affairs with parishioners. The confession came one month after he posted a video on his blog titled “Sexual Sin Is Not Enough to Take You to Hell.”

Curious why you would think so.

Yoiu would hardly admit that the abuses in the residential schools run by the RCC were part of the problem.

A church is a church. An organization, often called a parachurch ministry, is not.

    Sin is sin, correct.

but what lays the foundation for that sin can be, and usually is, very different.

By believing the Holy Spirit is guiding him in correct interpretation, he believes sexual sin is not enough to take you to Hell. That is fundamentally Sola Scriptura.

Now, I bet some Protestants here believe he is terribly wrong. And their belief is based on the fact they believe the Holy Spirit is guiding them in correct interpretation.

And so it goes. Sola Scriptura refutes itself.
