    Default Quakers??

Yea or nay? Are they a legitimate religion or are they not, what say our local theists?

Quaker or AKA Friends is a quasi(I may stand corrected)religious body of some 800,000 or more individuals who refer to themselves as a church or church body. I find it of interest as they accept those of us who are non-theists ie; agnostic and/or atheist into their midst and this intrigues me. While I am unsure is not to say I do not wish to delve into the possibilities.

I had to google it. So they believe everyone has the light within regardless of their beliefs.
That already makes it a no for me, because that implies you are not you but simply a vessel for another life form or entity.

I like to think me is me, not some spirit or light.

I think this is an accurate article about them.

"Members of the various Quaker movements are all generally united by their belief in the ability of each human being to experientially access the light within, or "that of God in every one""

Like I said, I like to think I am me and not some vessel for another life form or entity.
Otherwise I would not be me, would I?

    Thumbs up Re: Quakers??

Don't know anything about Quakers, but Quaker Harvest Crunch Raisin and Almond cereal gets a yay from me.
One can be a true believer in anything: psychic ability, Christianity or, as Bertrand Russell classically suggested (with irony), in the fact there is a teapot orbiting the earth. I could believe any of those things with total conviction. But my conviction doesn't make them true. Indeed, it is something of an insult to the very truth I might hold dear to say that something is true just because I believe it is. ~Derren Brown
