Default Yo Speedy

I have a question for you.I watched a program about religion and how Jews and Christians view the Messiah differently. They touched upon their different theology based on Christ. Can you explain what the differences are? I am very interested, please and thanks...

The Jewish killed Christ believing he wasn't the Messiah. Now they have been paying for it ever since.

Christians, are totally devoted to Christ, and cried when the Jew's stabbed him.

That added a lot to the discussion.

At least get it straight.....while it might have been at the behest of the Jewish authorities,it was the ROMANS who crucified and "stabbed" Jesus.

Jews believe the Messiah has yet to come, whereas Christians believe he has come once already, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. Jews do believe Jesus was a great prophet, in the same category as Elijah, Moses, and others.

Jews believe a historical person named Jesus lived, but do not recognize him as the Messiah promised in the Torah, which is basically the Christian "Old Testament" of the Bible, minus the Talmud.

Many Christians believe their faith is merely an extension of Judaism; what the Jewish faith naturally became after Jesus. God had a covenant with man (old Jewish one), it was broken and replaced with a better one (Jesus). So in that sense Christianity is Judaism after the "new and everlasting covenant".

Interestingly enough, the very first Christians were converted Jews.

Either way the Jewish authorities are just as guilty.

Before they were guilty of assisting in killing Jesus they were guilty of rejecting their Messiah promised from ancient days.

Their greatest sin was rejecting Jesus; the rest was an effect of that rejection.
