So heres the question. Are you born gay by perhaps a "gay Gene" or is it a result of your upbringing / surroundings?

I have a male cousin that is gay, from the time he was very young he showed feminine traits and played with dolls etc., so who knows.
All the other brothers and sisters are straight and nothing like him.
No doubt there have been some studies done on that one..
Good question.
All I know is that if people really get into it here, the moderators freak.

The exact same question was asked on the show Power of 10. I just thought if it was OK for national TV it should be OK for here but I get your message loud and clear.

I know there have been some studies on the concept of "born gay" trying to identify a gene that is responsible for sexual preference, however, if sexual preference was truly genetic, then ALL identical twins would be either BOTH STRAIGHT or BOTH GAY, since identical twins have the exact same genetic material/DNA. IMO, this negates the genetics argument, because obviously genetics does not play a role if one man can be gay and his identical twin is straight.
Having said that, I feel that sexual preference is likely multifactorial meaning that there may be some inborn factors as well as external factors that decide sexual preference.
Thats a very interesting point.

What attracts a person to another is not by their genes its the scent you give off..
Just like an animal humans give off a scent and that is what attracts you to ppl..The chemistry and crap..
Looks are nothing really.....Just alot look for those kinds of certain things when they are looking for someone..
The ones you love leave far too soon...
The ones you hate stay far too long..
I have smelt some great colognes on my buddies but have never been attracted to them. Same goes for alot of women.

The only reason I post under this topic is because it became a discussion amongst friends & family a few days ago. So, I did some reasearch & it turns out that scientists who examined the brains of deceased homosexuals found a part of the brain called the hypothalamus was defect. Thus supporting the argument that homosexuals are born homosexual. IMO homosexual behavior is not natural and not productive to the human race as a whole, but on the other hand nature has a way of taking care of itself, perhaps homosexuality is natures way of stemming human overpopulation. My information was taken from

You weren't MEANT to know how to answer that loaded question. The inference is if you don't fully agree that homosexuality is a perfectly normal condition then you must fear homosexuals.
Ludicrous.
Watching and laughing!!!
I only fear the really violent ones. The interior decorators, stylists, fashion designer type don't scare me.

There was no inference on my part; but as usual, good of you to imply that there was. If anything is "loaded" it's the topic...but OK, it's a slow day I'll play along.
Ludicrous indeed...
