Default black eye question..

my oldest got a nasty bump on her eye today at school. the principal called just to let me know and said it wasn't anything major..but she'd probably have a bump..
by the time she got home her whole eye was swollen and purple.
my question is..how long will it be swollen like that?? it's kinda starting to freak me out.

If it's swollen right shut, at least two weeks before it clears up. Make sure the eye itself isn't bleeding.

Hubby just went through the whole swollen eye thing a couple weeks ago. Got stung by a nasty l'il hornet, his eye swelled shut.

Hope your girl feels better soon Sweets.

I know it's different than what your girl is going through but with Hubby it stayed swelled up for a few days, then it gradually lessened. He had a lot of liquid draining out his eye when it started to go down as well. His eye was constantly watering so he had to keep just wiping it away, the more it drained the more the swelling went down. Other than the original swelling it didn't cause him any pain, it was "just" a pain in the rear to have to put up with it.

P.S. What happened? Is the boy worse off than she is? LOL...

That doesn't look too bad. Hopefully it won't swell up any more. The puffiness will probably be gone in a few of days. The colour a week/10 days.

Wow thats a nice one. She should be proud of that baby.

I had one like that three weeks before my grade 8 graduation. It was still kind of yellow for the grad.

frozen peas ... followed by a warm compress. Oh ... and an aspirine or two to thin the blood.

didn't have peas..we used hashbrowns instead. lol
keeping her home from school today to do the warm compress thing.
read in Ski's link that you shouldn't give asprin because it thins the blood..i've got tylenol in case she needs it, but she said it only hurts if she pokes it..

hoping the swelling went down overnight, it was the size of a golf ball when she went to bed.

I just hope when she goes back to school the kids don't call her Cyclops!
Also watch to see if she is starting to listen to 3rd Eye Bind, and those Black Eyed Peas can rely be a problem too!

if the kids teased her Tipsy, he'd probably come home with another blackeye..lady that she is.
