I guess it's just a matter of time before you realise that having your name written in Chinese ( especially when your not Chinese ) on your neck, or some picture of a dragon on your leg for life, really isn't such a cool thing. I figuired this craze would be short lived.

That's because people don't think before they do things like that. If you've got a tattoo you've really thought about and it means something to you and you've put some brain power into where you're going to put it then I bet alot of the people that get them wouldn't be getting them removed. Example...if she had had the same dragon done on the bottom of her back it wouldn't be a problem for her at work....

I remember talking to a girl years ago, she had some chinese symbol on her neck. She was told it meant something and that's why she wanted it. But then when she was in a big city somewhere she was advised to put a big bandaid/guaze over it to cover it. Apparently it meant something else and the chinese in that city would take offence to it!

Scary to think we are so gullable to unkowingly have something like this permantely put on ourselves not knowing the consequences of our actions down the road.

I really want a tattoo, but it's taking me a long time to decide what/when/where type thing because of whatever lies down the road for me.

    from the same article:

"Tattoo inks aren't regulated, so doctors don't know exactly what chemicals may be entering people's skin or their lymphatic system and bloodstream, according to chemists at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff who found heavy metals in some inks during a 2005 study."

So your saying people should only do things that are "COOL"????

It is a bit different if thats the only reason why they got it, is because they THOUGHT it was cool.

Most people don't even realize how ugly tattoos are and they will regret ever getting one at some point of their life.

Well I chose to get 5 over the past 6 years, I like them no matter what anyone else thinks...and when I had them I made sure they were in places that were easily covered up by clothing if I had to....

Seems newman is finding a lot of tattoo articles these days.

Last posting was from a religious group that swore that tattoos were against the bible and could kill you. It was actually a funny article once you realized it was propaganda.

Removal is a big industry and it would be nice if people would think first before making the plunge. It's not for everybody.

Does anyone know what it costs to get one removed?

Or is there somewhere I could get an estimate price to cover one up with something?

    Thank you

Cost of removal is very expensive and quite painful. (feels like a large rubber band snapping against the skin) I have yet to see laser removal that hasn't left a scar. DO NOT get tattoo laser removal done in this city. Investigate your options in Toronto or even Ottawa. For something like that you want to closely scrutinize portfolios, talk to people who have actually had it done at the place you are checking out, etc. Many people will rent the equipment and get into it as a get rich scheme as you don't have to be a licensed doctor to operate it.

Don't fall for any of the internet removal kits, they are usually a salt scrub and some sort of acidic wash......yeeouch!

Tattoo Cover ups can be designed to completely disguise the original tattoo but requires planning and much thought because you don't want to have the same feelings later.

Piece of advice, don't scimp on yourself, once a cover-up is done, it is almost impossible to cover-up again. It's not something to jump into.

Ask yourself if it's the idea of the tattoo you want gone or the design itself. There is a difference.
