Default LOL After 2 years my Check Engine light went out!

have a 94 2wd 300 six F-150 and the Engine check light came on 2 years ago. The truck runs perfect gets 20mpg . I had it checked and they said it was a sensor that tells me if a expensive $350 vacuum part (named with 3 letters, forget what they were now) is working and it would cost $70 to get and it was $70 to do the test.
I just payed the test and left without fixing anything. I just noticed the CEL(Check Engine Light) is out now but the truck still runs the same.

I rented a new Dodge SUV and its engine light came on so I was told to bring it to a dealer and they told me not to worry about it! and the SUV ran great for it's 500 mile road trip.

Now the other day my friends 2003 Chevy Siverado Engine light came on and the dealership could not find anything wrong said it can happen if it rains or goes through a car wash! They may be right because it was raining and his light went out now.
I think because mine was on for 2 years that the CEL light bulb finally bunt out.
I just think these things cause more trouble than they detect.

That light can mean many different things, some of which don't affect the operation to speak of. Others are obvious!
All it takes is a bit of moisture to make the light come on, have seen it many times.
If your light is on for more than a day or two, try removing the negative terminal from the battery for 5 minutes and then putting it back on, some times this clears the fault code and the light will go out, other times it requires the factory computer plugged into the harness to reset it.

would a check engine light have anything to do with a solenoid in the transmission? i ask because a mechanic told me this was the case with my car... the light comes on anytime i go over 80km/h.... the car still runs the same with the light on or off...

could possibly have an electronic torque converter lock up solenoid in the tranny itself..if that is bad and the torque converter isn't locking up at the speeds it should (usually anything about 70-80kms) then it would cause a code to be set in the computer, so it could set it off

The culprit was a Valve Position senor that monitors the expensive EGR thing.

Just do what my dad did if your engine light keeps coming on and the mechanics tell you nothing is wrong. Get some black model paint and paint over it.
