agreed, especially considering AMD just killed the QuadFX platform. Not to mention Quad Sli is a waste.

Otherwise, not bad if you've got the coin for it... id personally go with the new Intel quads (penryn i thinks?), and if you're gung ho on a 4 card solution, you might wanna look into throwing 4 Ati 3870's in CrossfireX.

Personally, id also pick 8800GT's over 320mb GTS's.

Yes, go Intel at the moment. AMD is behind the eight ball right now in terms of performance parts.

I'd take the Intel Core 2 Quad QX6850, and why four 320MB GTS's??? I'd rather have two 768MB 384 bit 8800 GTX's in SLI than four 320MB 320 bit 8800GTS in quad SLI. If I'm gonna think dream machine, I'd dream big...

Actually a dream machine can mean many things to many people.
To some it can mean the most expensive bleeding edge parts available.
To others it can mean the best mix of the parts from manufacturers that they like and the most money they can put out for it at the time.
If its already built then you can upgrade certain parts as you go along,I would upgrade the Video cards,Mobo and processor in the future.
I would also add more storage ,keeping the Raptor for your main drive.
    If you built it yourself-good.
Keep researching ALL parts you ever think of using for a build.
    Good luck on future builds

I would change a few things for sure.

    Get 2 or 4 500GB seagate HD's.

2 x 8800 GTX cards or wait for future Dual Gpu cards and get 2 of them instead.

Get 1 x Intel Quad-Core Yorkfield and OC it on stock air cooling to 3.6-4.0ghz which is plausible.

Also i would go with 2x4gb G.Skill PC2-8000 dual channel kit.

1 -LG DVDRW is all you need, lightscribe is a waste of money Black SATA.

1 -LG DVD-ROM unit Black of course and SATA if available.

    1 -ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ1100 ATX12V / EPS12V 1100W Power Supply or Thermaltakes 850w to 1000w Version.

1 x DFI X38 (not released yet, but soon dec 20 so they say) Intel Motherboard or the P35 Version of it which has been out for sometime now, but the X38 many state it maybe better then the P35 mobo, so time will tell.

No need for the water cooling stuff for such a CPU and as for the cards, well they seem to be doing very well on stock cooling, but there is better air cooling in the aftermarket products which i would invest in if i thought it was worth while and it is much cheaper.

    ---------------------

So not only did i save you money from a few things in this setup i stated above. It would kick arse over the one you were dreaming about and cost you either the same price or cheaper or possibly a little more, all depends on the time you buy the parts at.

    ---------------------

So you would have this instead.

1 -DFI X38 (not released yet, but soon dec 20 so they say) Intel Motherboard or the P35 Version of it which has been out for sometime now, but the X38 many state it maybe better then the P35 mobo, so time will tell.

    1 x 2x2GB = 4GB G.Skill PC2-8000 dual channel kit.

2 or 4 500GB seagate HD's and RAID them if 2 HD's i would raid 0 the drives (Make sure to have an extra 500GB HD (External) for Backup Purposes), if you bought 4 HD's then i would Stripe Them and again make sure to have an extra 500GB HD (External) for Backup Purposes.

2 x 8800 GTX cards or wait for future Dual Gpu cards and get 2 of them instead.

1 x Intel Quad-Core Yorkfield and OC it on stock air cooling to 3.6-4.0ghz which is plausible.

    1 -ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ1100 ATX12V / EPS12V 1100W Power Supply or Thermaltakes 850w to 1000w Version.

1 -Creative 7.1 Channels Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series Sound Card

1 -LG DVDRW is all you need, lightscribe is a waste of money Black SATA.

1 -LG DVD-ROM unit Black of course and SATA if available.

1 -AeroCool CoolWatch-Silver Large LCD Display Control Panel with 20-in-1 Card Reader

1 -ZALMAN ZM-MFC1 Fan Controller Panel - Retail

1- Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

As for the Case there is a few others that are made by Antec that i would look into as an option of buying.

Not even close to my dream machine in my above post and i doubt Dell will ever build such a machine let alone any other off the shelf manufacturers.

As far as what I have and what I would build well...

    What I have-

    Asus A8n32-sli deluxe mobo

    4gb Kingston hyper-x

2x 400gb Western Digital raid edition 2 hds

    2x EVGA 8800 ultra superclocked

    AMD FX-60 processor

    Seasonic 750 watt power supply

    Soundblaster XFi-Elite pro

    2x Plextor 760-A

    ZALMAN ZM-MFC1 Fan Controller Panel

    Zalman CNPS9700 led

    Silverstone Temjin TJ09 case

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    What I plan on building-
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
Mobo will probably be Asus supporting PCI-Express 3.0/DDR3 1600 ram and Intels Yorkfield quad core processor or better(unless AMD comes up with something new and amazing)

8gb of ram probably OCZ either Flex XLC Series or ReaperX HPC Series

    Intel Yorkfield QX-9650 or better

4x Seagate Cheetah® 15K.6 enterprise hard drive 450 GB SAS interface

Adaptec Serial Attached SCSI RAID 4805SAS----The Adaptec Serial Attached SCSI RAID 4805SAS PCI Express card is an eight-port controller that supports SAS, SATA or SATA II disk drives. It features the Adaptec RAID Code (ARC) with standard RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50, JBOD as well as the Adaptec Advanced Data Protection Suite with RAID 1E, 5EE, 6, 60, Copyback Hot Spare and optional Snapshot Backup. The card has 128 MB of ECC-protected DDR DRAM and a battery unit is optional.

2x EVGA 8800 ultra superclocked--Keep for now and upgrade later

    Soundblaster XFi-Elite pro

2x Plextor 760-A Keeping these until the new Multi Burners drop in price--LGs Super Multi Blue GGW-H20LI is now $500.00-These drives are dropping fast

    ZALMAN ZM-MFC1 Fan Controller Panel

    Zalman 7700AlCu

    Silverstone Temjin TJ09 case

    PC Power & Cooling T12W ATX12V / EPS12V 1200W Power Supply
